Personal Training Levels-2

Level 1

Designed to provide an introduction to the health and fitness industry with basic exercise and fitness knowledge. The type of job this could lead to is an assistant fitness instructor. This is equivalent to Key Stage 4, GCSE grades D-G or NVQ 1.

Level 2

Sometimes known as ‘entry level,’ certain Level 2 qualifications (e.g Certificate in Fitness Instructing) provide entry onto the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at Level 2 and can lead to jobs as Gym Instructors or Aerobics teachers. Once qualified, many Level 2 qualifications offer routes into teaching different disciplines such as studio cycling, step and circuits. Their level is equivalent to GCSE grades A-C or NVQ 2.

Level 3

This is the most popular choice by our clients.  Designed to provide an high level of exercise and fitness knowledge, these qualifications provide the basis for careers in Personal Training or Advanced Fitness Instructing, both of which secure entry to REPs at Level 3. They also allow instructors to specialise in working with GP referred clients, older adults or ante and postnatal women. Their level is equivalent to A levels or NVQ 3.  All our trainers have a Level 3 qualification or similar.  Our Regular Trainers have less than 5 years experience and our Senior Trainers have more than 5 years of experience with a sport specific qualifications.

Level 4

Known as a exercise specialists.  Personal Trainers who have a Level 4 qualification specialise in all aspects of Personal Training along with Exercise for  Stroke Rehabilition, Cardiac Disease, Cancer Rehabilition and Lower Back Pain.  Their level is equivalent to a diploma or NVQ 4.  They are the most advanced Personal Trainers in the UK.

 

Each qualification has to be approved through the Government via Ofqual and the Sector Skills Council (SkillsActive) and sit on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).  National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) are accredited within the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF)
